Our Early Years team use Get Writing from the Read, Write Inc phonics scheme to teach early writing skills.

Children learn to: 

•  write and form the letters/letter groups which represent the 44 sounds with the help of fun phrases
• write words by using Fred Talk
• 'hold a sentence' - write a sentence by rehearsing the words out loud before writing
• write some common exception words (the red words)
