3rd - 9th February 2025

What a wonderful week we had at school raising the profile, once again, for Children’s Mental Health and Wellbeing. At Ashfield, we regularly discuss Mental Health and Wellbeing during our weekly PSHE lessons, assemblies, visits to school, book links and topics but this week was an opportunity to come together as a whole school to raise the profile.

Our wonderful Mindmate Ambassadors worked really hard to support the learning taking place all over school this week and we had some wonderful feedback about them from all the class teachers, pupils and parents/carers.

Teachers commented:

The Mindmate Ambassadors led the sessions like teachers, they were prepared, knowledgable and confident!

The MM Ambassadors did so well, it isn't easy teaching a class of your peers. Wow!

The Mindmate Ambassadors added a lot of joy to the playground each morning with their meet and greet. Parents/carers and pupils were so happy to see them. It was such a positive start to the day!

Each day the Mindmate Ambassadors met and greeted all the pupils and parents during the morning drop off, they led Mindfulness lessons in each class and supported mindful art and PSHE sessions across school. There was a bake sale that raised *** towards a new friendship bench for our playground. The children enjoyed relaxation/mindfulness through art sessions, supermoovers each day and reading for pleasure time. They came to school in comfy clothes and enjoyed yoga sessions and nature walks with another class.

Parents and carers commented on the week:

Really thoughtfully done, absolutely age-appropriate and super to know the school value supporting my child’s awareness of their own well-being.

It was a really uplifting start to the day, super welcoming and positive way to start the school day

This has been a really fantastic week and the whole school seems to be buzzing with it.

The yoga was a particular hit, and they both loved having the ambassadors join them during the day. They also loved getting to work/mix with the other year groups… well done everyone!
